Dr. Jon Bailey Joins Behavioral Health Center of Excellence Advisory Board
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 21, 2016 -- Dr. Jon Bailey, a leading authority on ethics for behavior analysts, recently joined the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence (BHCOE.org) as an advisory board member. The California-based organization's mission is to identify and recognize quality providers of Applied Behavior Analytic (ABA) services to individuals with autism and related disabilities, many of whom now qualify for services through their health plans.
“Dr. Bailey is widely known as the voice of ethics for behavior analysts, and we are honored by his support and valuable contribution in developing the standards behind the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence,” said Sara Gershfeld, Behavior Analyst and Founder of the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence. “We believe his strong experience, especially in creating systems that promote ethical behavior related to ABA Service Delivery, will be extremely valuable as the BHCOE continues to grow and measure quality standards across the United States.”
Dr. Bailey is one of the foremost behavior analysts in the U.S. and a leading authority on ethics in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. In addition to being a highly sought-after speaker at international conferences on ethics, he served as a founding director of the Behavior Analysis Certification Board ® (BACB). In 2005, he received the Distinguished Service to Behavior Analysis Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for the Advancement of Behavior Analysis. He is the co-author of numerous books and articles.
“As I travel around the country, I am amazed at the vast differences in ABA delivery systems. Due to increases in state insurance reform initiatives led by national nonprofit advocacy group, Autism Speaks, the need to develop quality benchmarks and recognize quality ABA service providers is becoming more important than ever,” said Dr. Bailey.
“I am concerned that many agencies that call themselves ‘behavioral’ have only one purpose: to make money. My objective for our field is the establishment of high standards for behavior analysts that promote transparent business practices and high clinical quality. I feel that the approach developed by Behavioral Health Center of Excellence is the foundation for this initiative.”
As a member of the advisory board, Dr. Bailey will help provide strategic input on the ongoing development of BHCOE’s quality standards.
