Dr. Kayla Gertsema Joins Eating Recovery Center, Austin
Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 26, 2016 -- Eating Recovery Center, Austin (ERC Austin), a trusted provider of comprehensive treatment for eating disorders, announced today the addition of Dr. Kayla Gertsema to its clinical leadership team. Dr. Gertsema will join the collaborative, team-based environment of ERC Austin, providing the highest level of comprehensive care to patients, as well as their families.
In her role at ERC Austin, Dr. Gertsema will work with children, adolescents, as well as adults in the partial hospitalization program. Dr. Gertsema will take part in discussions around goals, challenges, and successes for patients based on seeing them in individual sessions, as well as during team rounds with the dietitian and therapist.

Dr. Gertsema’s background is in child and adolescent psychiatry. She completed her residency and fellowship at The University of Texas at Austin-Dell Medical School. While in her fellowship, she served as Chief Resident of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida where she studied biology, chemistry, and psychology. After college, she received her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where she received the “Most Likely to Succeed in Psychiatry” award from the medical school. Passionate about international travel, she completed rotations in Quito, Ecuador and Auckland, New Zealand while in medical school.
