Dr. Mark J. Werner joins The Chartis Group as National Director of Clinical Consulting
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 17, 2015 -- The Chartis Group announced today that Dr. Mark Werner, a leader in clinical operations and population health, has joined the firm as the National Director of Clinical Consulting.
Dr. Werner joins The Chartis Group from Medica Health Plans, where he served as the senior vice president and chief clinical officer leading strategy and innovation for high-value health system development, accountable care organization clinical operations, value-based payment arrangements and next generation population health. Before this, he served as the senior vice president and chief clinical integration officer at Fairview Health Services where he led their transformation to a fully integrated health network, leveraging clinical and academic assets to enhance healthcare delivery.
Dr. Werner has made important contributions to healthcare delivery and physician leadership including leading the clinical integration of large community and academic health systems, developing early accountable care organizations, building multidisciplinary physician groups, and creating dynamic provider-payor partnerships. Over his career, Dr. Werner has published numerous articles addressing integrated health systems, clinical innovation, healthcare economics and financing, clinical models for value-creation and payment methodologies. He speaks nationally on these topics and on physician engagement and leadership, healthcare transformation, and the leadership challenges facing the industry. Recently he served as Chairman of the Board for the American Association for Physician Leadership (formerly American College of Physician Executives).

Dr. Werner received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University where he also completed his residency in pediatrics. After serving as chief resident, Dr. Werner completed a fellowship in adolescent medicine at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Werner graduated magna cum laude from Rice University with a Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry. He holds a certificate in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University.
