Dr. Mentz Crosses Another “Fourteener” Off His List
Houston, TX (PRWEB) January 27, 2014 -- Dr. Mentz, of the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery is proud to announce that he has recently climbed his 34th “fourteener.” A “fourteener” is a mountain summit exceeding 14,000 feet.
As an avid mountaineer and outdoorsman, Dr. Mentz began climbing in 1995. His goal is to complete the grand slam of 54 “fourteeners” before he turns 60 years old. That averages out to be 20 more summits in the next eight years.
“Mountain climbing is a great vacation for catching up with old friends,” said Dr. Mentz. “It’s really not that difficult, but you do have to train for it. It’s picturesque, peaceful and gives your mind a break from work.”
Dr. Mentz’s top five favorite climbs were Grand Tetons, Maroon Bells, Crestone Needle, Capitol Peak and Chicago Basin.
On rock climbing compared to mountain climbing, Dr. Mentz said, “Rock climbing is for young guys who want to conquer a challenging wall. They generally aren’t going for a summit, which is my favorite part of mountain climbing.”
