Dr. Michael Weinberg Renamed as Division Head of Plastic Surgery for Trillium
Mississauga, Ontario (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- Dr. Michael J. Weinberg, a plastic surgeon serving the Toronto area and director of Toronto Plastic Surgery Clinic and Mississauga Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Clinic, was once again named as division head of plastic surgery for the Trillium health care group.
The appointment came following a merger between Trillium Health Centre and Credit Valley Hospital, yielding the renamed Trillium Health Partners. Dr. Weinberg formerly served as chief of plastic surgery for Trillium Health Centre from 2004 up until the merger.
After the merger, the board of directors released each division head and required them to reapply for their roles under the new leadership. Dr. Weinberg went through the interview and vetting process, and was ultimately selected and reinstated.
Dr. Weinberg, who also served as treasurer, secretary, vice-president, and president of the Medical Staff Association for Trillium Health Centre from 2001 to 2005, says he respects the board's decision to review the current division heads in light of the merger.

Dr. Weinberg is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is a fellow of the Royal College. He is also a member of the Ontario Medical Association, Canadian Medical Association, Canadian Society of Plastic Surgery, Ontario Society of Plastic Surgery, and Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is a researcher, speaker, and author on plastic surgery and related topics.
As Division Head of Plastic Surgery of one of the largest divisions of plastics in all of Ontario, Dr. Weinberg will perform, oversee, and teach procedures ranging from facelift to tummy tuck, breast augmentation/implants, and liposuction at 3 Toronto-area sites.
The story of Trillium Health Partners began when the Health Services Restructuring Commission initiated a merger between Mississauga Hospital and Queensway General Hospital in 1997. In 1998, the 2 hospitals became a single hospital corporation under the Trillium Health Centre name. With the integration of Credit Valley Hospital, the newly named Trillium Health Partners operates 3 locations in the Toronto area.
The hospital has outlined a 5-year strategic plan to meet the healthcare needs of the community. As division head of plastic surgery, Dr. Weinberg plans to create a comprehensive, multidisciplinary breast surgery program and a centre to treat and care for patients with skin cancer.

He earned a master's degree in medical biophysics and a doctorate in medicine from University of Toronto, followed by a residency in plastic surgery and a fellowship in head and neck surgery at Toronto General Hospital.
