Ocean Isle Beach, NC (PRWEB) July 28, 2014 -- Voted First Place in the 2014 Best of Brunswick for Chiropractic Award, Dr. Pamela Owens received certifications in Functional Medicine, and Testing for Environmental Toxicity & Nutrition. Completing her training at Functional Medicine University, Dr. Owens chose to specialize in the Kalish Method of Functional Medicine.
As if winning First Place in the 2014 Best of Brunswick Chiropractic is not enough, Dr. Pamela Owens (Chiropractic and Naturopathic Medicine) has taken her practice (At the Beach Chiropractic Health Center) another leap forward. Dr. Owens has achieved the title of Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner from Functional Medicine University.
Dr. Pamela Owens has also advanced her scope of expertise by completing certifications in Testing for Environmental Toxicity, and the Kalish Method of Functional Medicine (a lab-based approach to treating depression, fatigue, digestive disorders, weight gain, and hormone imbalances). These certifications and Functional Medicine training expand Dr. Owens’ diagnostic tools and Integrative Wellness techniques beyond her customary Chiropractic and Naturopathic treatments.
What is Functional Medicine? Functional Medicine takes a step beyond traditional Western healthcare, with a broader view of diagnosing and treating health imbalances and chronic disease. Healthcare practitioners, such as Dr. Pamela Owens, are trained to analyze the root cause of illness by analyzing patient history, symptoms, lab results, with consideration of genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Dr. Owens reviews all these factors to determine the diagnosis. Once the analysis is complete, Dr. Owens designs a specific wellness program for her patient. "Everyone is unique and their health must be assessed accordingly."
Though spinal manipulation is the traditional technique used by chiropractors to treat their patients, Dr. Pamela Owens considers it as only one of the modalities available for healing. With her emphasis on Functional Medicine and specialty in the Kalish Method, Dr. Owens uses an expanding variety of diagnostic methods available for integrating Functional Medicine into her practice. "We utilize DNA, Saliva, Urine, Stool and Blood samples to thoroughly analyze our patients biochemistry so that we can find the real cause of their health problems."
There is an additional bonus offered by Dr. Pamela Owens to patients who work with medical healthcare providers. With 25 years of experience, Dr. Owens is well-respected in her community, and as such, she has a strong, credible reputation with medical professionals. This allows Dr. Owens opportunities to work with her patients’ medical team to develop a fully integrated and coordinated healing protocol.
Always wanting to go the extra mile for her patients, Dr. Pamela Owens expands her knowledge base in every way imaginable, including nighttime reading material with subjects such as: parasites, gluten intolerance, and yes – even “poop”. “I am concerned about a whole lot more than just back pain. It seems there is an increasing epidemic of enormous stress, obesity, tiredness/fatigue, low/no sex drive, and depression.” Dr. Pamela Owens seems to have an insatiable desire for answers to common health problems. This desire encourages Dr. Owens to advance her education and certifications in search of the most effective, least invasive, health protocols.
