WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (PRWEB) August 28, 2015 -- Dr. Peter Corona served his first superintendency at Sunol, an experience that taught him the powerful role of commitment and dedication in success. In his new book, “Sunol: Never Too Small to Succeed” (published by Xlibris), he shares the true story of the eponymous small school district that challenged the state of California and won.
Sunol, as other small school districts, was destined to lose its local autonomy. The governor and the California state legislature, along with leading college professors advocated elections within high school districts. The larger communities through the election process were able to out-vote the smaller communities and take them over.
Although Sunol only had six percent of the voters, they were able to go to larger communities and get those voters to vote for them. Eventually, the California legislature passed laws supporting the smaller districts and the governor signed those bills into law. “Sunol,” a firsthand account written by the school district’s own superintendent, describes how this was made possible. It is an inspiring story that gives hope to individuals and small organizations.
“We are never too small to succeed,” Corona says. “It is commitment, dedication, and the will and desire to succeed that counts. There is hope for the underdog.”
