Dr Tariq Drabu Encourages People to Use Their Dental Health Insurance
(PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- Dr Tariq Drabu is a leading dentist. He is the owner of the successful Langley Dental Practice in Middleton, Manchester. He is also a highly respected mentor and teacher of postgraduate students, and the Clinical Lead Dentist for the Oral Surgery Clinical Assessment and treatment Services for NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale.
Dr Tariq Drabu was speaking recently about patients who have dental health insurance. He said, “a recent article discusses the results of a study delivered by the University Of Maryland School Of Dentistry. Although this study was completed in the USA, I believe the results are also of relevance to British dentists. The research indicates that people with dental insurance may not be taking full advantage of their cover, and not using it to access the dental treatments they are entitled to. I feel certain that this could be an issue in Britain as well.”
Dr Tariq Drabu was referring to an article in the Denistry website which can be read here.
Dr Tariq Drabu continued by saying, “If patients neglect their oral health, they could be in danger of serious problems resulting in tooth decay, tooth loss, gum diseases, and in some cases, mouth cancers. I believe it is vital that patients who have dental health insurance be reminded of the treatments they are entitled to. This is partly the responsibility of the insurance companies. However, perhaps unsurprisingly, health insurance companies are not taking action to inform clients of their entitlements. I believe that we need to consider ways to work with health insurance companies to ensure people are receiving the dental care they have access to.”
Dr Tariq Drabu also said, “Increasing numbers of British people have dental care included in their health insurance, and it is important they understand what they are entitled to. Promotion of dental care available via dental health insurance will surely contribute to addressing this matter for our British patients. I would also welcome additional research specifically for Britain so that we understand the extent of the issue here in the UK. The study also highlighted some other factors which prevent people from accessing the dental treatment they require. These include age, socio-economic issues, and a lack of education. I have always believed that education is vital to ensuring people understand the importance of regular dental care and good oral health.”
Dr Tariq Drabu closed by saying, “The report concludes that people need to see positive promotion of dental care. This is correct. I believe that this is a role that should be taken on by individual dental practices, health insurance companies who offer dental health cover, and by government health organisations. We all have a duty to ensure people understand the dental care that is available to them. And we must ensure that patients appreciate the importance of looking after their teeth. I look forward to reading more on this subject, and I will be doing my best to ensure patients at Langley are fully aware of the treatments and dental care available to them.”
