(PRWEB) December 16, 2013 -- Dr. Tariq Drabu, Manchester dentist and leading dental consultant, was pleased to learn of the success of the Scottish initiative called, ‘Childsmile’. He said, “The initiative has been dedicated to improving the oral health of nursery children all over Scotland. This is excellent news, and I am sure it will continue to positively influence the health of these young children.”
Tariq Drabu, Manchester dentist and owner of the renowned Langley Dental Practice in Middleton, is known for his dedication to educating the younger generation about the health benefits of regular and correct oral hygiene. He was speaking recently in response to a news article published recently by BBC news. The article can be read here.
Tariq Drabu, in Manchester recently spoke to us about the article saying, “Results indicate that the initiative has been instrumental in reducing £6m in dental costs, simply by encouraging tooth brushing at Nursery school. This backs up my long held belief that by properly educating our children, we will be preventing serious health problems in the future, and saving precious financial resources.”
The initiative, which was run between 2001 and 2010 in Scottish Nursery schools, has showed what a significant change good health education can achieve. Tariq Drabu, Manchester dentist and leading mentor to British dental students spoke more about the initiative saying, “The Scottish Government commissioned a full evaluation of the initiative, and the resulting report found that as a direct result of ‘Childsmile’ there were fewer extractions, fillings and dental anaesthetics performed on children. This is wonderful news! And it is hugely significant. I think it is important that this information be shared as widely as possible around the UK. It is proof of the effectiveness of good dental health education.”
Tariq Drabu, leading Manchester dentist and trusted family dentist also said, “This initiative has also saved the public purse, which has to be an extremely important aspect of the project. I believe it is also a very good reason to continue work like this. Not just in Scotland, but all over Britain. I am speaking today because I think it is important to give praise where it is due, and because I want to help by encouraging my own colleagues all over the UK, to follow this excellent example and work with their education authorities to replicate this superb work.”
Tariq Drabu was speaking from his practice in Manchester, and closed by saying, “This project is to be praised for its excellent services to family dental care, child dental health, and public agencies. There is no doubt in my mind that initiatives like this are how we can all work together to improve the oral health of our younger generation, and build a healthier, happier population. I hope there will be opportunities to repeat this type of work all over the UK. We all have a responsibility to teach our young children how to stay healthy, and clean their teeth.”
