DrugNews Adds Byetta Resource Center With Latest Warnings & Legal News
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 08, 2013 -- The diabetes drug resource center at DrugNews.net is announcing a new resource site for patients taking the medication Byetta. The site will track the latest research and safety warnings, as well as court records from lawsuits alleging drugs like Byetta caused cancer*.
The DrugNews center was created to give those taking popular prescription drugs the latest information on recalls, safety alerts, research and litigation news. Patients can see if others are experiencing similar side effects and decide if they need legal advice.
Byetta is a popular injectable-type medication sold by Bristol-Myers Squibb, which is prescribed to those with type-II diabetes to lower blood sugar levels**.
The resource center has added warnings which suggest Byetta has an increased risk of certain cancers. A study from UCLA in 2011 suggested the drug could increase the risk of pancreatic cancer and thyroid cancer***. This year, the Journal for the American Medical Association also warned drugs like Byetta can double the risk of pancreatitis, a major risk factor for pancreatic cancer****.
DrugNews recently added a study by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, in which they found Byetta was identified as the suspect drug in a majority of diabetes drug pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, thyroid cancer or hypersensitivity cases reported to the FDA in 2012*****.
A special federal multidistrict court has been created for those patients filing a Byetta lawsuit alleging the drug caused cancer. (In Re: Incretin-Based Therapies Products Liability Litigation, MDL 2452, Southern District of California). Court records show 150 cases had been filed alleging cancer from either Byetta, Januvia, Janumet or Victoza as of October 17*.
Anyone affected by cancer after taking Byetta is encouraged to visit the DrugNews center or speak with a lawyer about their legal options. However, DrugNews only recommends lawyers who have already handled these complex Byetta lawsuits.
