Glen Ellyn, IL (PRWEB) September 19, 2013 -- October is National Kitchen and Bath Month. Here’s the ideal way to celebrate. Whether you need a kitchen makeover, you love looking at custom kitchen designs, or you crave gourmet food and wine, the October 11 Glen Ellyn Kitchen Walk is an event you won’t want to miss. Presented by Baird & Warner’s Glen Ellyn office, Drury Design is the presenting sponsor and the gourmet reception host.
The day starts out with designer tours of six sparkling kitchens from noon-6:00p.m. After the Kitchen Walk, Wolf and SubZero Corporate Chef Craig Bell hosts a gourmet tasting reception at Drury Design from 5:00-8:00p.m. Menu items include Confit Peppers stuffed with goat cheese, Shrimp Salad Sno-Cones, Caprese Skewers, Blue Cheese Steak Bites and Pizzetta.
All Glen Ellyn Kitchen Walk ticket sales and silent auction donations benefit Bridge Communities’ mission to help transition families from homelessness to independence. For more information, or to purchase $25.00 tickets, visit http://www.bridgecommunities.org/. Tickets may also be purchased on the day of the walk at any one of the six homes for $30.00.
“This year, we have an unprecedented mix of six wonderful showcase kitchens: two stunning and stately traditional makeovers, an amazing remodel/addition near a bird sanctuary, a glorious Gothic revival, a contemporary Prairie and a spectacular transitional first floor makeover by Drury Design,” said Carrie Morris, Baird & Warner Glen Ellyn realtor and Glen Ellyn Kitchen Walk chair.
“It’s always an honor to have a homeowner open their home for hundreds of people to enjoy. The Glen Ellyn Kitchen Walk is a tradition the whole town looks forward to and it’s a fantastic way to benefit Bridge Communities,” said Gail Drury, CMKBD. In 2011, the event raised $12,000. Here’s a look at Drury Design’s featured project.

“Center of Attention”
Focusing on a clean and bright transitional theme, this Drury Design client’s kitchen remodeling vision drove the re-design of the entire home’s first level.
Now the center of attention, the kitchen has become the focal point of the renovated first floor.
Kitchen Remodel Floorplan
Exterior walls stayed intact, but the floorplan changed. By eliminating several walls between under-utilized areas, the room opened up to accommodate a large professional Wolf 48” range with a custom hood. Fully integrated Thermador refrigerator and freezer, with mirrored door panels, adds dashes of natural color from the outdoor garden, on an otherwise white wall. Pops of bright blue in the coffered ceiling create added touches of interest.
Transitional Kitchen Remodel: Cambria Countertops and Custom Cabinetry
Accenting the glacier white Grabill custom cabinetry, soft hues in blues, grays and greens were used in the Sumi-E glass herringbone mosaic tiles over the range. Adex Hampton tiles form the backsplash. Cambria Torquay quartz, tops the counter surfaces.
About the Glen Ellyn Kitchen Walk
An annual event, the Glen Ellyn Kitchen Walk is Baird & Warner’s GoodWill Network project. The mission of the Baird & Warner GoodWill Network is to help the homeless and those in need in the communities in which we work and live. Morris explains the event’s intent, “Since our office began participating in the Glen Ellyn Kitchen Walk, the event has blossomed. It’s our way to accomplish two goals: we can showcase home design within Glen Ellyn and we can give back to Bridge Communities to help them help their clients who are in transitional housing.”
