Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) October 29, 2013 -- Druva today announced that its inSync endpoint data protection and governance platform has been recognized with the highest product rating out of seven solutions examined in Gartner, Inc.’s 2013 Critical Capabilities for Enterprise Endpoint Backup report. [1] inSync also achieved the highest mobile-workforce-centric score and an “excellent” rating for product viability, based on Gartner’s assessment of the vendor’s strategy and its ability to enhance and support a product over its expected lifecycle.
The Druva platform uniquely integrates automated endpoint backup, IT-managed file sharing, encryption and other data loss prevention capabilities, and a centralized audit trail of all data content and movement with federated search for governance, compliance, and e-discovery. It also creates a master record of all endpoint data that enables end users to access any file remotely, plus easy content recovery in the event of device loss or theft.
Gartner’s Critical Capabilities report compared seven endpoint backup products in two common use cases - mobile-workforce-centric and office-workforce-centric – against 11 critical capabilities to help IT leaders narrow their enterprise endpoint backup product shortlists. The capabilities considered in the report included PC OS diversity, PC content restore/migration, mobile device support, scalability, data reduction techniques, performance, security, user experience, back-end server/storage capabilities, proven cloud presence, and e-discovery functions.
According to the report, “The increased mobile work options and adoption of BYOD are increasing security risks. As a result, we are seeing greater interest in deploying endpoint backup from large organizations, including well-known technology companies. These companies realize that increased workforce mobility heightens data loss risks, as more employees store their data locally on their endpoints. The old way of either ignoring endpoint backup or forcing users to write to a corporate network share is no longer valid.”
“As this new Critical Capabilities report suggests, endpoint backup is no longer an option for many companies: it’s a necessary part of risk management. Druva’s approach, however, is to go a step farther by unifying backup, sync and share, DLP and data governance in a single product,” said Jaspreet Singh, Druva founder and CEO. “It’s easier for IT staff to manage, easier for end users to navigate, dramatically reduces data storage and bandwidth requirements through global deduplication, and provides significant cost savings. We are the first and only vendor to adopt this strategy, and we believe it is the only one that makes sense for organizations grappling with the need to bring the data on disparate devices under control.”
