Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- The Duchy Originals brand was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1990 to promote organic food and farming and to help protect and sustain the countryside and wildlife. Through Duchy Originals, The Prince believed he could create a "virtuous circle”: produce food of the highest quality, work in harmony with the environment and nature, use the best ingredients and add value through expert production.
Duchy Originals was one of the very first organic food brands in Europe and will exhibit its new USDA organic certified line of shortbread and biscuits at the Summer Fancy Food Show. The show takes place from June 29 to July 1, 2014 at the Javits Center in New York City. Displaying at booth #2736, Duchy Originals will be exhibiting with Walkers Shortbread, the family-owned Scottish company that bakes the brand’s shortbread and biscuits.
“As consumers look for more sustainable food choices, Duchy Originals is proud to meet these needs by offering responsibly produced, organic products,” said President of Walkers Shortbread, Inc., Steve Dawson. “We worked hard to satisfy the requirements for organic certification, both in the U.K. and the U.S., so that we can offer our customers the best product possible while maintaining our commitment to the environment.”
The full Duchy Originals line comprises three elegant shortbreads and the classic Oaten Biscuit. The Oaten Biscuit was the very first product created for HRH Prince Charles over two decades ago, and has a thin, crisp texture and a unique balance between sweet and savory flavors. The Highland All-Butter Shortbread has a sumptuous melt-in-the-mouth texture, and is baked following a simple traditional recipe, using churned English butter, quality sugar and wheat flour, including flour made from wheat grown on Duchy Home Farm at HRH Prince Charles The Prince of Wales’s Highgrove Estate. The Lemon All Butter Shortbread adds a refreshing zest, using lemon peel from Sicily, while the Stem Ginger All Butter Shortbread has a delicately balanced spicy sweetness using chunks of crystallized stem ginger.
Adhering to the Duchy Originals Good Food Charter which promises that every product “Is Good,” “Does Good” and “Tastes Good,” and as the USDA organic standards dictate, all ingredients include no GMOs, antibiotics or bovine growth hormones. Duchy Originals are also OU Kosher and vegetarian-friendly, and are produced using traditional farming methods. Furthermore, profits from the brand support a number of worthwhile causes through The Prince of Wales’ Charitable Foundation.
