DUEL is the first animated film produced via Artella, the virtual studio and crowdsource talent platform
Emeryville, California (PRWEB) December 01, 2016 -- Collaboration is at the heart of both Artella and DUEL, the animated film of kids working together to imagine themselves in a new and adventurous world.
From an early age, children are taught a few core principles: be nice to others, be accepting, and share. To illustrate these fundamental principles, a new animated short film called DUEL. DUEL revolves around a lively cast of three kids who come together and imagine themselves in an exciting and adventurous world.
The themes that permeate DUEL—sharing, diversity and collaboration—are especially fitting, given the way the film was produced. To create DUEL, 46 artists in 16 different countries collaborated via the virtual studio for seven months to create the animated short. The one-and-a-half minute short was produced for the 2016 Creative Talent Network Expo in Burbank, California as the seven-year-old conference's first original short film.
To make DUEL possible, the team used a budding animation platform called Artella, a rapidly-growing virtual studio and crowdsourcing site. Artella fosters communication, encourages worldwide collaboration, and facilitates the easy organization and storage of all of the thousands of files that go into creating a project like DUEL.
There are a number of unique Artella features that were essential during the production of DUEL. Most notably, about 70% of the film’s contributors had no previous contact with the film’s director, Tim Rudder. Instead, these contributors were found solely through the Artella Project Overview and Talent pages. This is what makes Artella so unique— artists can seek, or be sought out, to collaborate on interesting and exciting projects in animation, video games, virtual reality, and more.
“Our production crew found it absolutely critical to use Artella’s file storage system to organize all our data, and Artella’s premade templates keep everything organized and easy for everyone on the team to stay in sync,” says DUEL director Tim Rudder. “But what was even more essential were the amazing artists that came together through Artella to create DUEL. It’s really something special, and we’re excited to be sharing it with the world!”
