Duke’s Mark McClellan to Give Keynote at ACO Coalition Fall Meeting
PLAINSBORO, N.J. (PRWEB) August 05, 2016 -- Mark McClellan, MD, PhD, director of the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy, will give the keynote address, “Reforming Medicare,” at the fall meeting of the ACO & Emerging Healthcare Delivery Coalition. A physician and economist, Dr. McClellan has a unique perspective on healthcare delivery system reform. His talk will cover both the challenges and possible solutions for meeting the needs the aging baby boomer generation. Dr. McClellan draws on his service as FDA Commissioner (2002-2004), and then Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (2004-2006) when the agency launched Medicare Part D, creating a new prescription drug benefit for America’s seniors.
A fellow of the Brookings Institution, Dr. McClellan was named the inaugural director of the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy in October 2015, and was appointed to the Robert J. Margolis, MD, Professor of Business, Medicine, and Health Policy. The center develops evidence-based solutions in three broad areas: healthcare delivery, biomedical innovation, and education and the workforce.
The agenda for the ACO Coalition features emergent topics in delivery system reform and nationally known innovators. Sessions will include:
• A multi-stakeholder workshop featuring the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers, which developed some of the first methods to track high healthcare utilization.
• A two-part presentation for providers on implementing the Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA).
• A panel in our Series 2020, featuring AJMC co-editors Michael Chernew, PhD, of Harvard; and A. Mark Fendrick, MD, of the University of Michigan and its Center for Value-Based Insurance Design.
