Duke University Makes Investment in Durham Startup, Talented, to Help Organizations Accelerate Employee Development
Durham, NC (PRWEB) October 17, 2017 -- With Duke University's investment via Dan Ariely's Center for Advanced Hindsight (CAH), Durham-based Talented™ is one step closer to becoming the premiere experiential learning game platform for large organizations with mission critical training needs.
The CAH designs, tests and implements behavioral interventions in order to shed light on how and why people make decisions. CAH also investigates how certain forces influence our thoughts and behavior, building upon the groundbreaking research shared in Dan Ariely's best selling book, Predictably Irrational. Their Start Up Lab aims to infuse the latest thinking in behavioral economics into vehicles that can make a difference in everyday people's lives, and each year they choose three emerging companies from an international pool of candidates.
Talented CEO Danvers Fleury sees the partnership as a perfect fit, “The Center for Advanced Hindsight has engineered an elegant and sustainable ecosystem where research drives real world results and real world results then opens up new research opportunities.”
Launched in 2016 out of the American Underground, Talented is a mobile-first experiential learning game platform for trainers and authors that want their content to be immortalized in the lives and works of their learners. Learning games on Talented progress when learners complete three to five minute true-to-life virtual scenarios and real-world quests. This immersive learn-by-doing approach leads to unprecedented engagement, skill transfer and lifetime learner loyalty.
Talented games are used to amplify and reinforce training programs that must deliver real results while maintaining a fun and engaging user experience. These training games also overcome roadblocks in scheduling and delivery due to team travel with their mobile-friendly app.
“We're excited to support a startup from Durham's own entrepreneurship community,” says Rachael Meleney, Start Up Lab Program Coordinator. “The Talented team is passionate about positive behavior change and exhibits a collaborative spirit-- both highly important to the CAH in our pursuit to apply behavioral economics to tech solutions."
As part of this partnership, Talented will have the opportunity to integrate and leverage the Center for Advanced Hindsight's academic research on decision making and habit forming to make it an even more obvious choice for organizations to invest in their learners, and learners to invest in themselves.
