Duplin Winery Opens Major New Attraction In North Myrtle Beach That Provides Wine Tastings, Tours And Live Entertainment
North Myrtle Beach, South Caroina (PRWEB) June 26, 2015 -- The largest winery in the South, Duplin Winery of Rose Hill, N.C., has opened a major new attraction in North Myrtle Beach. It is Duplin's first winery in South Carolina and features live entertainment; corking and bottling demonstrations; wine tastings and tours; specialty foods to sample; and wine-related foods and merchandise for sale. It is located adjacent to Barefoot Landing and Alligator Adventure on Highway 17.
The unique and eye-catching exterior of the building is encircled by porches that offer comfortable seating areas where visitors can sip wine, look out over the salt marsh, and listen to featured entertainers. Inside the 15,000 square foot building, there are several themed wine tasting areas that, together, can serve up to 200 people for guided wine tastings. A 28-foot-tall replica of the Hatteras lighthouse that is seen on Duplin wine labels is a dominant figure inside the building. Built to both delight and entertain, the winery also includes more than 5,000 square feet of retail space featuring Duplin wines, homemade fudge, Duplin salad dressings, salsas and more.
“We're known for our 'Cool, Sweet & Easy' sipping wines, and making sure that people have fun when they stop by to visit with us,” said Jonathan Fussell, president of Duplin Wine Family and head of the winery's marketing division. “We're serious about the production and quality of our wines, but we're relaxed about life. You don't have to drink our wine with your pinky sticking out. You'll be laughing and having a good time during our wine tours — which is just a little different than others you might have experienced. Duplin delivers a laid-back North Carolina wine country experience. We invite you to stop by, sit a spell and enjoy.”
Daily guided tasting tours at the tasting station in North Myrtle Beach offer guests the opportunity to sample a wide variety of Duplin wines as they are entertained with fun facts about muscadine grapes, Carolina winemaking and the Duplin brand. Corking demonstrations will be accompanied by a presentation about the early days of the winery when Duplin first sold its wines in mason jars before moving to more traditional wine bottles. Now a Duplin tradition, the signature mason jar remains a popular item among Duplin wine fans and selected varieties of wine are still offered in them.
“We're excited to bring this new attraction to North Myrtle Beach,” says Dave Fussell Jr., president and CEO of Duplin Winery. “It's our hope that it becomes a popular gathering place for locals, as well as Grand Strand visitors. There's something for every member of the family from live entertainment to fun-filled tours to our patented Sweetzer frozen drinks that can be made in non-alcoholic versions for the kids. The whole family can have a good time and enjoy the Duplin experience.”
Duplin's North Myrtle Beach location is the only place along the South Carolina coast where Duplin Wine fans, as well as those new to the brand, can visit a Duplin winery. The Grand Strand location is expected to attract thousands of visitors, especially from throughout the Mid-Atlantic, South and Midwest where Duplin wines are sold and have devoted fans. The award-winning winery's Rose Hill facility alone is visited by 100,000 guests each year who come to tour, sample the wines and enjoy the comfortable, inviting and casual atmosphere there.
The Duplin Winery in North Myrtle Beach is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and closed Sunday. Reservations are not required for groups under 10 people, and children are welcome.
