DuPont Named Top Employer by Science Magazine for the 6th Consecutive Year
Wilmington, Del. (PRWEB) October 28, 2013 -- DuPont was ranked among top employers in 2013 by Science magazine for the sixth consecutive year.
The Science and Science Careers’ annual Top Employers Survey polls employees to determine the 20 best employers in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Survey respondents are asked to select and rate companies on 23 characteristics, including corporate image, financial prowess, leadership and direction, work culture/environment, location and academic and intellectual challenge. The top 20 companies with the best reputations were then selected and ranked in the annual survey, which was published in today’s print issue of Science magazine.
“We are especially proud to be recognized as a top employer because this ranking reflects the views of our employees and their peers,” said Senior Vice President and Chief Science and Technology Officer Douglas Muzyka. “At DuPont, we are applying our science to transforming the marketplace, ushering a new era of opportunity driven by multi-disciplinary thinking. We work hard to create a work environment that enables our scientists and engineers to not only invent, but to create solutions for the big challenges of the 21st century - feeding the world, decreasing our dependence on fossil fuels and protecting people and the environment.”
DuPont employs 10,000 scientists and engineers on six continents across the world. Together, they represent more than 32 core technologies across four scientific disciplines: biology, chemistry, engineering and materials science. This broad diversity of talent, in partnership with collaborators across the world, has resulted in scientific innovations such as DuPont™ Teflon® nonstick coatings, Kevlar® fibers, Tyvek® house wrap and medical packaging, Nomex® thermal protection, Corian® surface, Plenish® high oleic soybean oil, Sorona® renewably sourced fiber and Rynaxypyr® insect control.
The report is based on a total sample of 3,656 survey respondents in North America (81 percent), Europe (10 percent) and Asia/Pacific Rim (7 percent).
