DuPont Recognized as Best Crop Protection R&D Pipeline in the Industry
Wilmington, Del. (PRWEB) November 07, 2013 -- DuPont recently received two prestigious Agrow Awards in recognition of innovation and excellence in its R&D pipeline and packaging innovation efforts. Agrow is a leading provider of news, analysis and data to the global agriculture industry.
The Agrow Awards were developed to recognize excellence in the crop protection and production industry. Entries are judged using a wide range of criteria by an independent judging panel consisting of a group of experts from around the world.

DuPont Crop Protection and its scientists have now received 16 Agrow Awards and this is the sixth year in a row that the company has been recognized. DuPont Crop Protection received awards in the following categories:
• Best R&D Pipeline – This Agrow Award was given to DuPont and recognizes the critical importance of research and development to the industry. DuPont was deemed to have the most promising batch of new active ingredients in R&D. DuPont’s R&D product concepts target significant market opportunities and seek new chemical classes and new modes of action that favor performance attributes like low use rates and control of resistant pests. The introduction of DuPont™ Rynaxypyr® and the recent launch of DuPont™ Cyazypyr™ set high standards in these respects as well as superior business expectations. The current R&D pipeline will extend these high standards to additional insecticide and nematicide markets and to major fungicide targets.
• Best Packaging Innovation – This Agrow Award is aimed at innovations in the packaging of pesticides. DuPont received the award for its Grower Bags which are used with the DuPont ™ PrecisionPac™ custom dispensing system. The Grower Bags represent a unique offering and are currently in use in the United States and Canada. They replace standard rigid plastic jugs, the most commonly used pesticide containers. The flexible Grower Bags weigh one-third to one-fifth as much as conventional plastic jugs of equal capacity and are easier to store, ship, empty and dispose.
• Best Off-Patent Pesticide Strategy – DuPont was highly commended (2nd place) in this category for the off-patent strategy for its oxime carbamate insecticides. The oxime carbamate insecticides methomyl and oxamyl, sold as DuPont™ Lannate® and DuPont™ Vydate® respectively, first introduced into the marketplace more than 40 years ago and off-patent for more than 20 years, are generating their highest combined sales ever. This is the result of an integrated global strategy involving elements of supply chain, registration, stewardship, and marketing and represents a unique and remarkable success story.
