Dynamic Robotic Solutions debuts 90K PSI robotic waterjet cutting system
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Dynamic Robotic Solutions today announced a new robotic waterjet cutting system capable of trimming lightweight materials at 90K PSI. This breakthrough technology is able to trim material types previously not feasible using DRS' last generation 60K PSI cutting tech.
"90K gives us the capability to process lightweight materials like CFRP [carbon fiber reinforced plastic] and thick plastics that in the past were thought not possible to process using standard waterjet without abrasive." Said DRS CEO Bruce Potts. "Higher corporate average fuel economy requirements and lower CO2 emissions legistlation are driving the leight-wighting of vehicles, which often results in new materials which are stronger, but therefore harder to cut. This requires higher pressure waterjet to cut parts that might have previously been stamped or die cut." The 90K waterjet system is part of the DRS Process Solution Center (PSC). The PSC is available to DRS customers for, prototyping test cuts and full production runs. Customers are encouraged to contact DRS and make an appointment to see what 90K can do for them. 90K PSI cutting is one more way DRS is pushing the limits of robotics.
