Eagle Roofing Products Announces New Energy Star Credit for Concrete Roof Tile
Rialto, CA (PRWEB) January 13, 2016 -- Eagle Roofing Products is excited to announce a new energy tax credit for concrete roof tile. Residential Energy Tax Credits have existed for over 30 years in the United States. Most recently, the Residential Energy-efficiency Tax Credit (IRC Sec. 25C) focuses on products with an Energy Star designation. Energy Star is a voluntary labeling program co-sponsored by the EPA and the US Department of Energy to promote the creation and use of products that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
For years the language regarding roofing products that qualify for the tax credit excluded concrete roof tile. While Eagle Roofing Products has continuously listed and maintained a large number of Energy Star products, customers that chose to use these products were unable to receive the benefit of the tax credit.
Now, Eagle customers can choose from over 200 Energy Star products that meet the 15 Solar Reflectance Index requirements as well as possibly qualify for tax credits. These products will be listed on the Energy Star database and will be labeled as Energy Star in our forthcoming brochures, as well as on the Eagle Roofing Products website in March of 2016.
Over the past few years, Eagle Roofing Products has worked with the Tile Roofing Institute to encourage lawmakers to make the language for roofing materials product-neutral. At the end of the last congressional session, they achieved this goal. The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015 (PATH Act) was passed and amended the roofing language in the Residential Energy-Efficiency Tax Credit. As of January 1st of 2016, concrete tile roofs are eligible for the tax credit.
Tyler Allwood, Director of Technical Services and Systems for Eagle Roofing Products, said in a statement, “Eagle has been on the forefront of environmental responsibility in the building products industry for years. It’s exciting that our work with Energy Star is finally being recognized and that Homeowners will benefit from the tax credit.
Eagle Roofing Products provides many choices for their customers to save energy and to, potentially, receive a tax credit of up to $500. Interested customers with new and existing homes who are purchasing concrete tile roofs after January 1st of 2016 should consult a tax professional to see if they are eligible.
