Earth Day Event: Hutchinson Elementary School Hosts Eco-fair & Shred Day
LAKEWOOD, Colo., March 27, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Hutchinson Elementary School's Environmental Club, in partnership with Shred Nations, will be hosting an Eco-Fair and Shred Day for community residents of Lakewood, CO and its surrounding cities on Saturday, April 21 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Hutchinson Elementary School located at 12900 W. Utah Ave., Lakewood, CO, 80228. The Eco-Fair and Shred Day will occur rain or shine.
Donations of $10-$20 for the use of these services will be appreciated. The following vendors will be present at the event for attendee recycling and shredding:
- Shred Nations & All American Records Management – Community members are encouraged to bring their unwanted confidential documents between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM - including banking statements, old tax return files, medical records, credit card receipts, etc. – to be shredded on site. Machine paper, letterhead, white tablet paper, computer printout paper, laser print paper, and other miscellaneous white paper and staples are accepted. Attendees will be limited to 3 banker's boxes (100 lbs) of paper. A $10-$20 donation per box is appreciated to accommodate the shredding service. All proceeds will go directly to the Hutchinson Elementary School's Environmental Club.
- GreenSheen – Recycle old latex-based paint without harming the environment! Donations will be accepted and are appreciate. All proceeds will go directly back to Hutchinson Elementary School.
- GoodWill GoodElectronics – Electronic recycling bins will accept: wires, VCRs, DVD players, gaming consoles, handheld audio & video devices, cable/satellite receivers, DVR/ Tivos, iPods/iPads, MP3 players, digital converter boxes, cameras, camcorders, eReaders, cell phones, PDAs/pagers, audio/stereo equipment, speakers, telephones, remote controls, projectors, electronic typewriters, computers/CPUs, small servers, printers/copiers, scanners, microwaves, toasters, coffee makers, irons, radios, toaster ovens, and blenders. NO TVs, CRT/LCD Monitors, batteries of any kind, or printers.
- ARC – Drop off kitchen-sized bags/boxes of clothing and gently used, small household items to be donated to ARC.
- Terracycle Brigades – Several Terracycle recycling stations will be set up to collect: Tom's of Maine natural care products, Colgate® oral care products, personal care and beauty products, GoGo squeeZ™ products, Brita® products, and energy bar wrappers. Please note this not a product donation collection, but rather an empty packaging recycling opportunity.
- The Green Mountain Sustainable Neighborhood Group - A member will be hosting a project for kids to make a reusable bag out of a T-shirt at 11:00 AM. This is a first come first serve project. A guardian will need to be with the child. An active member of the Sustainable Neighborhood Group will be on site to answer questions. Mini Seminars will be offered on Composting at 12:30 PM and Zero Waste at 1:30 PM.
- Food Trucks – The event will include multiple food trucks for community to enjoy great food and a day to celebrate going green.
Donations are welcome at the event in the form of cash or check written out to Hutchinson Elementary. Proceeds from the event will go towards The Hutchinson Environmental Club's future projects.

The primary objective of The Environmental Club at Hutchinson Elementary School is to educate the kids about trash pollution and plastics in the environment. The Hutchinson Elementary School's Environmental Club's mission is evolving, and it hopes to continue to host an annual Earth Day Eco Fair for years to come. The Environmental Club hopes to continue its work within the school to help it become greener each year. This past Fall the Club hosted their first annual Leaf Composting Event. It was a huge success. They are making recycling education a priority at the school; and are planning a pollinator garden this Spring.
