Earth Tech Expands Engineering Staff, Anticipating Strong Demand for Geotechnical Solutions in 2015
Land O' Lakes, Florida (PRWEB) February 13, 2015 -- Earth Tech (http://www.earthtech.net) announced the hiring of three seasoned geotechnical engineers to meet increased market demand for customized engineering and construction solutions to soil improvement problems.
Earth Tech provides specialty geotechnical engineering and construction services for heavy civil, commercial and residential construction projects throughout North America.
“This is the most significant personnel move we’ve made in recent years,” said Ron Broadrick, President of Earth Tech.“The commercial and civil markets are telling us that there is increasing demand for cost effective engineering solutions. We needed a larger team of geotechnical engineers to address this growth. These newly hired professionals fit our culture, complement our existing team, and have already begun to add value for our clients.”
Bud Khouri, PE, Executive Vice President of Earth Tech, said, “Dr. Ed Garbin has joined Earth Tech as Vice President of Engineering & Technology to serve as the company’s lead technical authority for specialty geotechnical construction projects in the U.S. and the Caribbean. Previously, he served as Hayward Baker’s Chief Engineer of the Southern Region. His new role at Earth Tech coupled with his practical and diverse background allows him to bring a unique perspective to the design, construction, and testing of complex and innovative geotechnical systems.”
“In addition, Mark Plaskett has joined Earth Tech as a Senior Project Manager, after a nearly 20 year tenure at Hayward Baker, where he specialized in ground improvement projects throughout the Southeastern U.S., the Caribbean, and Central America.”
“Finally, Michael Simpson has also joined Earth Tech as a Senior Project Manager, having successfully managed numerous vibro compaction, vibro replacement, compaction grout, and rigid inclusion projects during his nearly 10 years with Hayward Baker,” said Khouri.
“Needless to say, we are thrilled about what this expansion of our team will mean to our clients. We’ll be able to meet their growing needs for sound and innovative engineering solutions to soil stabilization projects, both large and small,” said Broadrick.
All three new members of Earth Tech’s Geotechnical Services Division joined in early January of 2015. More detailed bios are available below and can be found on the company website at http://www.earthtech.net/team.
Ed Garbin, Ph.D., P.E., D.GE earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida (Tampa). Joining Hayward Baker in 2007, Dr. Garbin focused on solving complex geotechnical problems using innovative ground improvement systems, often for remediation of very soft soils. He also gained extensive experience in the design and construction of earth retention and specialty deep foundation systems. Dr. Garbin was the lead design engineer for major specialty geotechnical construction projects across the country and has also completed projects in Central America and the Caribbean. At Earth Tech, Ed will focus on providing cost-effective design-build solutions to geotechnical construction challenges, and will lead all engineering, research, and development efforts for the company. He will assist with marketing and business development, and will provide continuing education to area geo-professionals.
Mark E. Plaskett, P.E. earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida (Tampa) in 1989 with an emphasis on geotechnical engineering. During almost 20 years on ground improvement projects with Hayward Baker, Mr. Plaskett was also involved in business development. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida. He currently serves as Chairperson on the local ASCE Geo Institute and is also a member of the Florida Engineering Society. At Earth Tech, Mark will continue to focus on providing superior ground improvement solutions and will assist with marketing and business development.
Michael K. Simpson, M.S., P.E. graduated from Auburn University in 2003 with his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering. His studies focused on geotechnical engineering with an emphasis on drilled shafts. During his nearly 10 years with Hayward Baker, Mr. Simpson gained valuable experience primarily in ground improvement projects located in Florida, East Georgia and Puerto Rico.
