EarthColor Offers New Alternative Fiber Paper for Sustainable Printing
Parsippany, NJ (PRWEB) November 25, 2013 -- EarthColor is excited to announce it now offers sustainable printing on Step Forward Paper™ Professional Grade, a revolutionary paper made up of 60 percent wheat-straw waste and 40 percent Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC®) certified wood fiber.
Two-time Academy Award nominee and long-time environmental advocate Woody Harrelson is a co-founder and investor in Prairie Paper Ventures Inc. (Prairie Paper), which designed and produces the Step Forward Paper™ Professional Grade.
“Almost half the world’s forests have been cut for paper products,” said Harrelson, who received an honorary doctorate from York University for his long-time dedication to environmental work. “Step Forward Paper™ is great for our forests, our farmers and our future.”
Sustainability is one of EarthColor’s six principles that set the company apart. “EarthColor works to find new and innovative ways to help minimize the impact of its products on forests,” said David Podmayersky, EarthColor Director of Sustainability. “Step Forward Paper™ Professional Grade is a complement to EarthColor’s responsible forest management and sustainability initiatives,” noted Podmayersky.
“Straw papers carry half the ecological footprint of tree papers,” said Neva Murtha, paper campaigner with environmental non-profit Canopy, which has been growing market support for straw papers for more than a decade. “Papers made with agricultural residue have the potential to keep more than 180 million trees standing every year, absorbing carbon and helping to stabilize our climate. They can also spark new green jobs and value-added revenue for North American farmers.”
EarthColor partnered with Prairie Paper – the industry leader in research, development and commercialization of tree-free pulp and paper – to help in the testing evaluation phase of Prairie Paper’s 60 percent tree-free paper for offset and commercial printing, and provided invaluable feedback and expertise. “Extensive collaborative testing and specialty printing techniques have resulted in great color fidelity and brilliance,” said Podmayersky.
Robert Kashan, CEO of EarthColor stated, “We applaud the innovative vision of Prairie Pulp & Paper and are proud to contribute our expertise in printing high quality imagery on this revolutionary wheat paper.”
Jeff Golfman, President of Prairie Paper said, “You can count on us to use responsible business practices that protect our natural resources while enhancing the value and integrity of your brand communications within your budgets. So take a step forward with EarthColor.”
