East Bay SPCA to Hold Annual Adopt-A-Thon
OAKLAND, Calif. (PRWEB) July 16, 2015 -- Looking for a friend who will stay by your side through thick and thin? Someone to come home to? All things pet can be found on the Oakland waterfront on Saturday, July 18, from 10 am to 3 pm when the East Bay SPCA hosts its annual Adopt-a-Thon at Jack London Square. Presented by Pet Food Express, the Adopt-a-Thon features more than 300 adoptable animals from 30+ Bay Area rescue groups and shelters, plus a dozen pet supply vendors. From turtles to doves, there will be cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, guinea pigs, rats and reptiles on site and available for adoption.
Whether you are looking for a new best friend or just wanting to take care of the pets you have, the event has something for everyone, even people who come with their own dogs. Dog trainers will be on hand to answer questions and give demonstrations. Kids will have fun animal-related activities and crafts and Merck will sponsor $10 microchips to help owners track their dogs if they go missing.
“The East Bay SPCA is proud to host local shelters and rescues with free booths at the Adopt-a-Thon at Jack London Square--the largest event of its kind in the East Bay,” said Allison Lindquist, East Bay SPCA president and CEO. “When you adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue group, not only do you save the life of the pet you adopt, but you create space for a new animal to be adopted out to a loving family.”
The East Bay SPCA established its Adopt-a-Thon more than 10 years ago as a 24-hour event at the shelter. Now in its seventh year at Jack London Square, the Adopt-a-Thon attracts new rescue groups and shelters every year. Our shared goal? Finding forever homes for companion animals.
We thank our generous sponsors and partners who make the event possible
