“Identifying precinct officers to work the polls on Election Day, and being able to communicate with them, are difficult tasks when preparing for an election,” said Franklin County Clerk Jeff Hancock. “When we learned about EasyPollWorker, we realized the software could streamline our selection process, cut postage costs, and make it easier for our precinct officers to know when and where they will be attending training and working.”
Before EasyVote, the Clerk’s Office managed scheduling, training, payroll, and contact information through multiple spreadsheets or paper files and spent countless hours making phone calls and assembling mailings. EasyPollWorker was implemented mid-February, and now the Clerk’s Office offers a form on its website for interested citizens to sign up to work upcoming elections. The system provides staff with access to comprehensive electronic records to track applicants and records for existing precinct officers regarding training, assignments, and work history. Through the software, Franklin County provides workers with a secure website and individualized log in access to sign up for training, review information, and complete needed forms. Tools also allow for staff and workers to communicate easily through email, text messaging, and mail.
“We’ve already started working in the system and plan to roll it out for the Primary,” Hancock commented. “If we can identify and communicate with precinct officers easily, then it’s a win-win for everyone – the staff, the precinct officers, and in the end, the voters.”
