Econolite Group Touts New ITS America Leadership Circle Report “Creative Disruption: Exploring Innovation in Transportation”
Anaheim, Calif. (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- Econolite Group, Inc. is proud to be a member of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) Leadership Circle that recently released its second Forum Report, “Creative Disruption: Exploring Innovation in Transportation,” a summary of the discussions and results from the group’s Forum held in Berkeley, California on August 13-15, 2013. The Forum focused on innovation and the evolving role of the transportation technology ecosystem, as well as the development of a new problem-solving business model to accelerate investment in Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technologies.
“Safety in any complex system is critical, and even more so in our transportation systems,” said Econolite Group President and COO David St. Amant – ITS America Leadership Circle Member and current Chair of the Board of Directors. “The ITS technology is available today to enhance transportation safety and efficiency, and it will take a collective effort to ensure the adoption of these innovative technologies sooner rather than later. It’s the Leadership Circle’s mission to help convene all of the industry influencers in driving ITS technologies toward solving the biggest transportation challenges.”
The report discusses insights and key takeaways from the Forum, which included sessions on Creative Destruction, Disruptive Technologies, Urban Mobility, Industry Trends, Big Data Challenges, Connected Vehicles and Infrastructure, and Emerging Freight Network Needs. Using these sessions as a foundation, the Leadership Circle will focus on Connected Vehicles, Data Collection and the National Freight System in 2014. The Forum began with an in-depth exploration of the shared transportation ecosystem in which all participants engage. The meeting then focused more narrowly on developing new, problem-solving business models to accelerate innovation and investment in transportation. Members selected three specific areas of the industry ripe for innovation, project ideas for each, and identified state and local agencies interested in hosting pilot projects.
The ITS America Leadership Circle brings together transportation and technology visionaries from the public, private and academic sectors as thought leaders on behalf of ITS America and the broader transportation community. Together, Leadership Circle participants develop strategic approaches and polices to improve the nation’s surface transportation systems through innovative ITS solutions.
