eDirectGlass Introduces Voice-Automation and Feedback for Automotive Glass Industry
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) September 16, 2015 -- eDirectGlass (eDG), the definitive industry leader, innovator, and disruptor of automotive glass repair and replacement (AGRR) technology and services, today announced that it is launching virtual assistant services for its Total Shop Management (TSM) point-of-sale and shop management system that provides voice-automation and feedback. eDG has integrated with the Amazon Alexa Voice Service (AVS) to provide Amazon Echo owners the ability to simply ask it certain questions relating to information or services found in TSM.
Starting November 1, 2015, TSM subscribers will initially be able to ask “Alexa” questions such as “how many jobs do I have scheduled for today/tomorrow/specific date” or “what was my total sales for today/this week/this month” and more. In order for TSM subscribers to utilize this service initially, they must have the Amazon Echo, which is a cloud-powered artificial assistant that is always on and listening for questions or commands. Future versions of the TSM virtual assistant services will only require a device with speakers and a microphone that is connected to the Internet such as a tablet, desktop computer, etc.
“We are excited to offer voice-automation and feedback to our subscribers and the industry. By integrating services such as Alexa into our platform, we are transforming the way our customers can better understand their business in order to make sound decisions,” said Gary Hart, technology evangelist for eDirectGlass. “In our daily lives, the fastest and usually easiest way to obtain information is to simply ask questions. In the automotive glass industry, obtaining critical job information is often cumbersome due to the steps it takes to obtain data from reports and/or electronic claim records contained in point-of-sale systems that are offline or not readily accessible. eDG has now removed these barriers and delivers an incredible user experience because the information sought by the user is only a question or voice command away.”
In addition to Alexa, eDG is also releasing the ability for other virtual assistants such as Apple’s Siri, Goggle Now, and Microsoft’s Cortana to provide the same experience from either a smart phone or Internet-connected computer. Availability for these platforms is slated for a December 1, 2015 release date.
“While we recognize the importance and impact of our virtual assistant services for automotive glass shops, we also realize the impact and use by consumers who seek automotive glass services. Beginning January 1, 2016, eDG will launch features allowing consumers, using the virtual assistant of their choice, to obtain glass replacement quotes, schedule service work, and more. eDG continues to offer the industry the convenience of choice, coupled with most innovative and the technologically advanced features to remain successful and profitable,” concluded Hart.
eDG will be demonstrating its virtual assistant services, by appointment only, at Auto Glass Week 2015 (http://www.autoglassweek.com) held September 30th through October 2nd in Reno, Nevada.
