EDU Healthcare Finishes Best Year
Huntersville, NC (PRWEB) August 27, 2015 -- EDU Healthcare has seen exponential growth since its start in 2007, and just finished out its best year yet, which fiscal year ends in June. The company continues to grow and provide students with the care they need through experienced and passionate healthcare providers and special educators. In doing so, EDU Healthcare has improved the lives of thousands of students across the country.
EDU Healthcare is accomplishing what the organization set out to do since its inception, and is paving the way to reducing the shortage of special educators and healthcare providers in school systems. Since 2007, the organization has grown at a staggering rate and has ranked one of the fastest growing private companies in the US by INC Magazine.
“Our continued growth stems from our endless hard work and efforts to help school districts meet the challenges in hiring qualified healthcare professionals”, said Matthew Lewis, Vice President of EDU Healthcare.
A Speech Language Pathologist and her husband saw an opportunity to use their background and experience to make a difference. Angela Lewis and Matthew Lewis founded the company to provide therapy, nursing, and special education services to school districts across the country to meet the needs of their students.
Having a special needs child of their own, they know first-hand the importance and need for special education program in schools. Their daughter, Giuliana, has Down’s syndrome. She motivates them to change the future of special education in schools knowing she will need the same care.
The company has propelled itself to grow even further as the 2015/2016 school year begins students arrive back to school. School systems have expressed that they are not ready to meet the demands of special education students as they return back to school:
The National Public Radio (NPR) of Atlanta recently reported that Atlanta area schools had a shortage of special education teachers at the start of the 2015-2016 school year. Gwinnett County Public Schools in particular had 75 open jobs and over half of those were for special education. Gwinnett County Public Schools spokeswoman, Sloan Roach, said the nationwide shortage of special education teachers has made hiring extremely challenging. “Part of it is because of the fact that there are not as many college students graduating who are certified to teach in special education,…..not only do they have to be certified in special education, but in many cases they have to be certified in another area” says Roach.
EDU Healthcare has developed a skillset to identify these qualified professionals who have the right education and certifications to work in schools.
At EDU Healthcare, a team of hiring professionals work closely with the potential candidates to find the most qualified individuals for the open school positions. The hiring professionals use a thorough credentialing and vetting process to find the most qualified healthcare providers. This allows the hiring professionals to match the best candidates to each school position.
“Not only do school systems find it difficult to hire qualified individuals, but the number of students needing services continues to increase year over year”, says Matthew Lewis.
The Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has reported one in 68 U.S. children are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and that number is expected to rise over the next several years.
There are a growing number of students who have ASD needing therapy services in schools. When ASD is treated early with therapies and intervention strategies, outcomes can be achieved quicker. EDU Healthcare helps to deliver audiology/deaf and hard of hearing interventions, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, behavior therapy and counseling, as well as school psychology services that coincide with the student’s Individualized Educational Program (IEP).
