Education Elements to Support Fulton County Schools in Personalized Learning Implementation
San Carlos, CA (PRWEB) April 23, 2015 -- Education Elements, which supports school districts in designing and implementing personalized learning, is excited to partner with Fulton County Schools to transform the 101-school school district to personalized learning environments over the next three years. Starting this April, Education Elements will work closely with 32 schools, guiding them through a design-thinking process, providing them with support, and pushing them to reach for ways to constantly evolve and improve their pedagogical approaches. An additional set of schools will follow a similar course starting in Fall 2015.
Fulton County Schools has three ambitious goals as part of its five year strategic plan:
- 90% of students will graduate on time
- 85% will be eligible for admission to a Georgia college or university
- 100% will be career-ready
The district believes that with a one-size-fits-all model it will not be able to realize these goals but that by focusing on creating personalized learning models in each of its schools, student needs will be met and its goals achieved.
With the support of Gartner Inc, Fulton County Schools unveiled its Personalized Learning Roadmap in March 2014 and over the course of the past year has been building a team of experts to support this plan. “Gartner has been fortunate to serve as a trusted partner to FCS and proud to see the initiatives detailed in their roadmap come to life and positively impact how kids learn,” said David Irwin, Managing Partner, K-12 Education Practice Lead.
Based on the roadmap, successive groups of 15-20 schools will each begin to change their instructional models over the next few years, until all schools in the district are personalizing learning for students. Education Elements will be a key part of the transformation.
“Education Elements has provided support to a variety of districts and schools with success. Their ability to bring those experiences to us, in Fulton County Schools, is very valuable.” said Stephanee Stephens, Instructional Technology Program Specialist at FCS. " We insist that our focus remains on transformational practice rather than the 'tool', and in that respect we are absolutely in sync with Education Elements vision of Personalized Learning.”
Education Elements work will focus on building strategic alignment across the district, creating a strong foundational understanding of personalized learning across all schools, and helping schools to design and implement the personalized learning models that best meets the needs of their schools. Education Elements will also help each school to select the digital content most likely to drive student outcomes for a particular school.
“Working with Fulton County Schools is exciting for us,” said Anthony Kim, CEO of Education Elements. “FCS is one of the largest districts in the country implementing personalized learning at scale. They have already demonstrated an extremely thoughtful approach and we are honored to be selected to be a critical part of supporting their vision.”
Education Elements will provide support over the course of the next three years, including working with the district to set goals and monitor progress. Education Elements will provide updates on the district’s work on its blog: Bring Your Own Thoughts.
