Education in Computer Science is the Topic of a New "Voices In America" Piece with James Earl Jones
(PRWEB) September 12, 2015 -- A new installment of Voices In America, with host- James Earl Jones, will feature a new episode covering the subject of Education in Computer Science. This episode will discuss the changing landscape of the discipline of computer science the challenge of imparting useful technical skills to the next generation of technicians- to include preparing students for the ceaseless innovations which are likely to make the skills they will learn obsolete. Voices In America will discuss why is teaching computer science important, and how will new innovations disrupt and change the academic side of these technologies.
Computer Science is arguably the most rapidly changing discipline in the world. What’s most troubling, and often overlooked, is that engineers graduating today frequently lack the level of real-world skills that they need in order to meet the standards of most employers. Why would this be the case?
It's a common experience for a person to be more proficient operating electronics than one's elders. The simple effect of immersion at a young age gives younger computer users an advantage over older people learning to use the same device. Simultaneously, the same systems over which a teacher is tasked to impart mastery to his or her students are developing even as the lessons carry on. In such a world, how can education in Computer Science be effective?
Voices In America is an independent production distributed to Public Television Stations nationwide to be aired at their discretion. The program is not a production of PBS or APT, and is not affiliated with them.
