Education Pioneers Expands to Connecticut; Launches New Fellows Program in Bridgeport
Bridgeport, CT (PRWEB) July 09, 2013 -- Education Pioneers, a national nonprofit with a network of education leaders, managers, and analysts announced today the expansion of its program to Connecticut. The organization’s first group of Fellows will begin this summer in the city of Bridgeport.
The inaugural 12 Connecticut Fellows will participate in the organization’s Graduate School Fellowship, an intensive 10-week summer or yearlong program that recruits emerging professionals from diverse fields to manage initiatives for partner education organizations, including school districts, charter schools, and nonprofits. The Fellows have the skills to help create effective systems and support teachers’ and principals’ important work to increase student achievement.
“By training and connecting emerging leaders with education organizations, Education Pioneers will help develop leaders that are needed to advance important work already underway in Connecticut to transform public education,” said Tanya Ramos, Executive Director, Eastern Region, for Education Pioneers.

They are contributing to the local education landscape by building a pipeline of talented leaders to guide strategic education reform initiatives that not only add value for the duration of the Fellowship, but also strengthen existing processes and infrastructure, and provide support to current education leaders working to accelerate excellence in the Bridgeport education ecosystem,” stated city of Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch.
Founded in 2003 in the San Francisco Bay Area, Education Pioneers has grown into a thriving national organization that places talent in 17 cities, with a network of over 1,600 leaders, and partnerships with more than 180 education organizations. Education Pioneers has significantly expanded the talent supply in education by connecting professionals to high-impact careers in education and supporting them to succeed.
The organization recruits top graduate students in business, policy, law, and education from premier universities such as Harvard, Yale, Rice, the University of North Carolina, the University of Virginia, Vanderbilt, and Duke. Through the rigorous and highly selective Fellowship programs, these emerging leaders are mobilized to launch careers in education outside of the classroom. They’re also provided with training on the challenges and opportunities of K-12 education through case studies and access to a network of top education industry leaders.
The organization’s rapidly growing network of Alumni advance into high-impact leadership roles in the field, including district administrators, nonprofit executives, policymakers, and philanthropists. Beyond their Fellowships, more than 70 percent of Education Pioneers’ Alumni in the workforce have chosen to work full-time in the education sector.
