Edward Fisher, PhD, R.Ph., Has Accepted Appointment to the Position of Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Marshall B. Ketchum University
FULLERTON, CA (PRWEB) November 10, 2015 -- After a nation-wide search, Edward Fisher, PhD, R.Ph., has accepted appointment to the position of Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Marshall B. Ketchum University. Dr. Fisher’s first day will be on January 4, 2016.
“The Dean is the Chief Executive Officer in the College of Pharmacy,” said Judy Ortiz MHS, MS, PA-C, DFAAPA, Dean and Professor, College of Health Sciences and Chair of MBKU’s Search Committee. “Dr. Edward Fisher will have the responsibility for overseeing the College’s accreditation candidacy and seeing the College through this process to full accreditation. He will be responsible for adherence to ACPE accreditation standards and will be responsible for maintaining the College’s accreditation.” Ortiz concluded, “There were a number of highly qualified candidates and the decision was not easy, but I look forward to calling Dr. Fisher a colleague in 2016.”
Dr. Fisher received his BA in Biology and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his BS in Pharmacy at Temple University College of Pharmacy. Dr. Fisher’s first academic position was at Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy where he was promoted to Associate Professor. Subsequently, he went on to help start up two new colleges of pharmacy, Midwestern University-Glendale College of Pharmacy as Professor and Inaugural Department Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and The Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy, University of Hawaii at Hilo, where he currently is employed as Professor and Associate Dean. He also serves as the Director of the MS in Clinical Psychopharmacology program. He has been granted tenure at three different universities.
Dr. Fisher is licensed as a pharmacist in Arizona and Pennsylvania, and has practiced in a variety of clinical settings. He has devised and presented over 100 continuing education seminars and innovative NSF sponsored short courses. He is a past National Secretary of Rho Chi, the only pharmacy honor society, and recipient of the National Rho Chi Advisor of the Year award. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he currently teaches in his areas of expertise that include substances of abuses and addiction, nutrition and pharmacotherapy of mental disorders.

The entire MBKU family welcomes Dr. Fisher and his wife Dr. V. Austin Nadolsy-Fisher, a veterinarian, to Southern California.
