Eggcitement builds with giant egg at Moneypenny
(PRWEB UK) 16 April 2014 -- Artisan Chocolatier Jo Edwards, who runs Aballu from The Cocoa Rooms in Rossett, has created the giant treat, which was no mean feat as she explains: “I have never made anything as big as that before. When I got a call from Moneypenny I was keen to do it but I knew it would be a challenge. It took me eight hours to make it on my own. It was hard work constantly moving the chocolate around the special mould to create an even finish."
“I had a bit of a disaster to start with when my first attempt cracked when I stood it up so I realised it would need to lie on its side instead. A crowd gathered when I very tentatively loaded the finished version into the car – they were literally ‘egging me on’ as I held my breath lifting it. I don’t think I have ever driven so slowly making sure it arrived in one piece!”
The personalised egg, weighing 10 kilograms and 74 centimetres long is four centimetres thick and infused with different chocolate flavours. All proceeds from the raffle which includes lots of other prizes too, including two smaller eggs made by Jo, will be split between Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Marie Cure Cancer Care.
As for Jo’s advice for the lucky winner of the giant egg – “Just smash it on the head and share!”
