EKU Top Three Among Affordable Online Law Enforcement Degree Programs
Richmond, KY (PRWEB) October 03, 2017 -- The EKU Online Police Studies degree ranks #3 on the list of “Most Affordable Online Bachelor’s Degrees in Law Enforcement” released by AffordableColleges.com. Eastern Kentucky University’s program was also recognized as one of the only degrees in the nation dedicated to police studies.
“Unlike other, broader online law enforcement degrees, the curriculum features courses — like contemporary police strategies, social forces and policing society, and ethical decisions and police — that focus on preparing students for the professional day-to-day life of a police officer,” reads EKU’s profile on the organization’s website.
Founded in the 1960’s, the EKU Police Studies program was the vision of Lt. Robert Posey, a veteran of the Kentucky State Police and director of the Commonwealth’s police academy. His goal was to build a program dedicated to the education and training of police officers. The first class, which was offered in 1966, laid the foundation for what would become the EKU College of Justice and Safety. The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education named the college a “Program of Distinction” in 1998.
The EKU Online Police Studies degree appeals to those looking to enter the field, individuals working in policing who want to position themselves for promotion and those nearing retirement who need a degree to pursue new opportunities.
EKU has prepared leaders in law enforcement for more than 50 years. Today’s online students:
• Earn their degree in the field they love from a fully accredited brick-and-mortar institution
• Work with dedicated advisors who guide them from application though graduation and help them make the most of their transfer credit
