El Pueblito Cooking School to Launch at Mayakoba on the Riviera Maya
Riviera Maya, Mexico (PRWEB) October 11, 2016 -- This month, Mayakoba, the eco-resort on the shores of the Caribbean in Mexico, will launch the El Pueblito Cooking School at Mayakoba. The new culinary school will take place within a state-of-the-art kitchen at El Pueblito, the resort’s colonial-style plaza, and will be offered to local residents and guests of Mayakoba’s four resort hotels: Fairmont Mayakoba, Rosewood Mayakoba, Banyan Tree Mayakoba and Andaz Mayakoba (opening winter 2016).
The educational program was curated by Chef Diane DiMeo and will feature a schedule of classes designed for both novice and avid culinary enthusiasts, and will host local chefs as well as high-profile guest chefs as instructors. The October 2016 schedule inaugurates the program with hands-on classes such as Gnocchi, Tapas, and Seared Fish with Mole Verde. All classes end with the students and chefs enjoying the fruits of their labor and each student will receive a branded apron and recipe of their meal so they can commemorate and replicate their Mexican cuisine and experience.
A rotating cast of guest chefs, tapped by Chef DiMeo will rotate throughout the seasons and include Eric de Maeyer, executive chef of Fairmont Mayakoba; Eva Millan, resident chef of Koba restaurant in the club house of El Camaleon; Vincent Wallez, executive chef of Andaz Mayakoba; Javier Ornelas, whose food has been featured in the New York Times and Fodor’s Travel Guides; and Laura Brea who is well known for her tantalizing stuffed jalapeño peppers.

Guests looking for a full culinary program while visiting Mayakoba can partake in a three-night Discover Mexico experience October 20- 22 at Banyan Tree Mayakoba. The offering includes a stay in a Bliss Suite, two days of cooking classes and a Pop-Up Dinner hosted by renowned guest Chef Abraham Salum, chef and owner of Salum, one of the hottest restaurants in Dallas.
In addition to a diverse culinary agenda, epicureans can take advantage of instruction on the El Camaelon golf course, the only PGA course in Mexico, through the Mayakoba Golf & Gourmet Learning Experience. Guests will perfect their game with a one-hour lesson at the Jim Mclean Golf School, America’s number one golf academy, and pair it with any El Pueblito Cooking School class. Packages start at $220 per person plus applicable taxes and fees. From December 7-11, 2016, Mayakoba will host the Couples Classic, a 54-hole partners event, featuring a different format of play each day. The package includes a four-night stay at Fairmont Mayakoba, meals and on-course refreshments, three tournament rounds (two on El Camaleon, and one on Paraiso GC), one round on El Camaleon at leisure, El Pueblito Cooking School session, and airport and golf course transfers. The package rate is $4,000 per couple.
In addition to the El Pueblito Cooking School, guests can stroll a traditional Farmer’s Market located in the plaza to find local craft beers, freshly churned ice cream, fresh fruits and vegetables, artisan preserves and empanadas. The market also presents local wares such as handmade clothing, aromatic herbs from the Mayan garden and organic creams.
