Valley Center, CA (PRWEB) November 14, 2014 -- Stuart Furman, Esq. has practiced law in California for over 30 years and the launch of his new website was a natural extension of this practice to include practical assistance to family caregivers.
The idea for the website, called the “ElderCare Ready Journal” which can be found at http://www.eldercareready.com came to him after he began personally caring for his aging parents, rather than just advising clients on how to set up legal documents. Simply, he felt he was woefully unprepared to handle the day-to-day management of his parents’ elder care, despite his previous professional experience in the field.
Mr. Furman stated: “In my 30+ years practicing law, I drafted thousands of estate plans to help families when a parent lost mental capacity. But once they did, then what? How do you actually manage the elder care of your parent? Thus the idea for the website was born.”
“Elder care includes many tasks other than the physical care provided for a parent. In the beginning, kids don’t conceptualize the time commitments in making doctor appointments and then taking them to the doctor, managing all their finances and investment, monitoring all their medical care, buying and delivering groceries, juggling visits and phone calls with each of them, having family meetings to discuss their care, and much, much more,” Mr. Furman continued. He further said that all of this elder care stuff is complicated by the fact that most of the family elder care providers are still working and this stress must be managed as well.
The ElderCare Ready Journal can be found at http://www.eldercareready.com and is very descriptive of his personal theme for the issue: “Don’t fear elder care, just be ready for it,” he exclaimed. Based on his own experiences, his website contains postings of practical tips, stories, personal thoughts, in addition to applicable news, legal and financial issues he discovered along his own elder care journey.
