Electronics Manufacturer MC Assembly Helps Make Holidays a Little Better for Two Boston Families
Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) December 15, 2016 -- MC Assembly, a leading electronics manufacturing services provider, recently helped make the holiday season a little brighter for two families in need near their Boston, Mass., facility. The company raised a total of $2,000 to purchase gifts and gift cards which they delivered to two families through The Wish Project charity.
“We’re giving a couple of families a little better Christmas this year,” said Thom Hansen, director of operations for MC Assembly’s Boston facility.
Earlier this year, the staff talked about looking to see if any families in the community needed help for the holidays. Kristin Casale, a program buyer for MC Assembly, researched local charities and found The Wish Project. The Wish Project provides basic goods to qualified needy families living in the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts each year.
“It was such a pleasure to help these families have a better Christmas,” Casale said. “It really warms my heart to know these families will have a few more toys to play with and new clothes to wear. I hope it puts a smile on all their faces. We hope to participate in this organization every year from here on out.”
The Wish Project keeps each family anonymous and gives donors the age, gender and clothing sizes of the family members, along with a list of suggested gifts. MC Assembly purchased gifts for one single mother with four children and one single mother with three children.
The Boston-based staff had originally planned to sponsor one family through The Wish Project, but decided to contact MC Assembly’s Florida-based headquarters to ask if the company would be willing to match the funds raised. This would allow them to help two families through the program. MC Assembly's corporate headquarters agreed to match the funds and from Thanksgiving through December 10, the Boston staff was able to raise around $1,000 worth of gift and cash donations. With the matching funds, a total of $2,000 in gifts and gift cards went to the two families.
“Our employees were very responsive and decided to each pick a person to shop for, bringing in toys and gifts for each family member,” Hansen said. “We then balanced out the gifts per person and were able to give each family member a $100 gift card on top of the gifts.”
The idea was very well received and everyone was happy to donate and see the results of the effort and what they accomplished in a short period of time.
“I am very proud of the generosity of the Boston team and for MC Assembly to contribute time and money for this effort,” Hansen said. “It will go a long way in helping make a couple of families Holiday a whole lot better.”
In the past, MC Assembly’s Boston staff has participated in a charity golf event for Kids without Christmas and indicated they're interested in participating in more local community charity events in the future. The Boston staff plans to work more closely with MC Assembly’s community committee based in Florida to coordinate their outreach efforts.
