Elementary School Students Wrap Up CSRA Home Connections’ “Operation Hand-Warmer 2013” With Christmas Carols Performance
Evans, GA (PRWEB) December 16, 2013 -- Volunteers for CENTURY 21 Larry Miller Realty and CSRA Home Connections' “Operation Hand-Warmer 2013” were on hand recently as all of the second grade classes at Stevens Creek Elementary School in Columbia County added the proverbial “cherry on top of the sundae,” singing Christmas carols for U.S. military personnel who will be away from their American homes, friends and families this holiday season. Rita Spencer’s second grade class also provided handwritten letters and Christmas cards for the recipients of this year’s “Operation Hand-Warmer” donations.
“The innocence, patriotism and love for our troops and their country expressed by these children is truly heart-warming,” said CSRA Home Connections Special Ambassador Burt Sappenfield, founder of “Operation Hand-Warmer” and owner of Majestic Floor Care. “Our military leaders have repeatedly told us that letters and cards from home, especially handwritten ones from schoolchildren, mean so much to our men and women in uniform in Afghanistan and other duty stations far from the comforts of home. So this effort from these kids could be called ‘Operation Heart-Warmer.”
Sappenfield was joined at the recent kids’ concert by CSRA Home Connections Director of Membership Development Caroline Thomae Bradshaw, CENTURY 21 Larry Miller Realty Director of Communications Dawn Human, and volunteer Chris Banks, owner of Webmasters-USA, who recorded the video and is creating the DVDs that Sappenfield will help ship to U.S. troops overseas.
CEO Larry Miller announced last month that the CSRA Home Connections Local Alliance Co-op Marketing Program’s “Operation Hand-Warmer 2013” wound up with yet another successful conclusion.
“We received even more media support and volunteerism from all across the CSRA [Central Savannah River Area] than ever,” said Miller.
“Operation Hand-Warmer” is designed to supplement standard military issue clothing and supplies, specifically for those who have to do hand-related tasks requiring dexterity in combat zones. Hand-warmers can be found at any sporting goods store, warehouse club (Sam’s or Costco), Wal-Mart, Academy Sports, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Lowe’s, etc. Donations may still be made year-round at both CENTURY 21 Larry Miller Realty offices.
