Elements Behavioral Health Enhances Its Christian Addiction Treatment Programming with Two New Directors
Long Beach, CA (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- Elements Behavioral Health enhances and expands its Christian addiction treatment programming with the addition of two new directors.
Charles W. Robinson, III, MA, CSAT-Candidate, LADC-US, joined Elements last month as its National Director of Christian Programming and Outreach. In this role, he will enhance and implement new Christian programming at designated treatment centers in the Elements family of behavioral health care programs.
“For many years, I’ve searched for a Christ-centered program that provides evidence-based addiction treatment from a Christian world view,” said Mr. Robinson. “Elements Behavioral Health has given me an exciting opportunity to help build this type of program from the ground up.”
Mr. Robinson holds a master’s degree in substance abuse studies from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is working toward becoming a certified sex addiction therapist and is a licensed drug and alcohol counselor under supervision. Prior to joining Elements, Mr. Robinson spent eight years as Pastor of Recovery at Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he established a recovery ministry that spanned the full spectrum of services from interventions to aftercare.
As National Director of Christian Programming and Outreach, Mr. Robinson will also reach out to Christian ministries throughout the country with support and education about addiction and recovery.
“Parishioners look to their spiritual leaders for solutions to their problems, but when it comes to addiction, church leaders may not have the knowledge or tools they need to offer effective guidance,” said Mr. Robinson. “One of my goals is to reach out to local churches and spiritual leaders to help them develop a full recovery ministry to take people from the brokenness and despair of addiction through healing in Christ.”
Also joining Elements is Jonathan Benz, MS, CAP, ICADC, RMHCI, who serves as the Director of the Christian Program at The Recovery Place drug rehabilitation center in Florida. Mr. Benz brings a unique skill set to The Recovery Place, blending spiritual leadership with clinical expertise. He holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology and is a certified addiction professional in the state of Florida.
Mr. Benz is also an ordained minister, a leadership consultant to various Christian organizations in the U.S. and the U.K., and has developed spirituality and addictions programming for The Hanley Center and The Lukens Institute in Florida. He is the author of Live a Legacy: Spiritual Principles for Strategic Living.
In addition to his clinical and pastoral work, Mr. Benz has worked extensively in zones of conflict doing reconciliation between hostile religious groups (e.g., with Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland and addressing Christian/Islam issues in the Middle East). He brings the same message of acceptance and inclusion to The Recovery Place’s Christian program, where people of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome to find their own path to healing.
“The Recovery Place’s Christian program integrates Christian teachings and principles with exceptional clinical treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders,” said Mr. Benz. “Wherever people are in their faith journey or their journey of recovery, this is a safe place for them to heal, recover and grow in their relationship with their higher power.”
The Christian addiction treatment program at The Recovery Place blends traditional therapies with Christian-centered therapy groups, Celebrate Recovery support groups, church and Bible study attendance, and other spirituality-based approaches. While developing the tools for lifelong recovery, clients deepen their connection with God and learn how their spiritual beliefs can enhance their recovery.
“We are excited to welcome Charles Robinson and Jonathan Benz to the Elements team,” said Keith Arnold, Senior Vice President of Clinical Outreach, Marketing and Strategic Development. “Offering high-quality faith-based treatment is another way Elements is filling the gaps in treatment and developing specialized programs that meet the needs of our clients.”
