Elio Motors Partners with DES Group to Provide Interior Styling Options for Its 84 MPG, $6,800 Vehicle
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) November 06, 2014 -- The Elio, slated to launch in late-2015, will get up to 84 miles per gallon and will have a base price of just $6,800.
“Vehicle interiors have become increasingly important to the overall driving experience,” said Paul Elio. “After all, people spend nearly an hour or so a day just commuting back and forth to work. Providing a range of aftermarket options will give our customers an opportunity to personalize their driving space and make it more a reflection of their own personal style.”
DES Group will provide several plastic injection and blow molded parts. Interior parts will include various plastic trim pieces including the instrument panel, door panels and consoles. Exterior parts include the front and rear fascias and exterior lighting. DES Group specializes in global supply chain management, but also has the unique ability to mold low-volume niche products. The company offers a range of services including production and supply chain integration, prototype tooling and parts, production tooling, injection molding, blow molding and lost-core molding.
The Elio will be manufactured in Shreveport, Louisiana, in a former General Motors facility that manufactured the Hummer H3, creating 1,500 jobs. In addition, the Elio will use 90 percent North American content, creating another 1,500 jobs at its supplier partner companies. These manufacturing jobs will in turn create approximately 18,000 indirect jobs across the country.
