Elisha Ralph Morgan, Former Navy Seal Attends Naval Special Warfare Family Fundraiser in Simi Valley California
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) January 01, 2014 -- Elisha Ralph Morgan, Senior Gemologist and former U.S. Navy SEAL successfully finished Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL training in BUD/S class # 66 in June 1972. Life was much simpler than it is today for a young frogman (SEAL). The new generation of Navy Seals attending the auxiliary training requisite to navigating the consortium of complex new equipment and techniques make for a more academic environment. "The challenges faced by the numerous deployments in hostile environments abroad that many of these young men face and often loss of life or disabling injuries account for a harsh toll on their families." The Naval Special Warfare Family Foundation recently hosted a fund raising dinner event at the Ronald Reagan Memorial Library in Simi Valley, California to assist the widows and orphans of some of the Seals that did not return alive or that did so with significant injuries. The well known and popular Hollywood actor Kevin Costner was in attendance with his band named The Modern West. Kevin Costner’s melodious voice rang in the rafters at the event for all to enjoy and was a huge success. Theirs was a wonderful performance. Other guests at the event were a few well known and highly decorated retired Seals such as Medal of Honor recipient Michael Thornton who gave a touching , inspirational speech on his past and what it means for him to be an American. Elisha Ralph Morgan was honorably discharged from SEAL Team One in September 1975 and, after a near 10 year hiatus, returned to serve honorably a second time with SEAL Team Four at the Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Virginia for a few more years before returning to the civilian world. Mr. Morgan then became a Graduate Gemologist in the residence course in 1987 graduating with honors from the Gemological Institute of America. Mr. Morgan is known for his modest to high risk gemstone adventures abroad and enjoys assisting those with gemological needs both domestic and international. He also donates his knowledge and services on fund raising appraisal events for charities, libraries and museums over the last 26 years while in the gemological profession.
