Elko-Lander-Eureka County Library System Implements 19 of AWE’s Educational Computers Designed Specifically for Young Children
Chester, PA (PRWEB) August 14, 2014 -- The Elko-Lander-Eureka County Library System in Elko, Nev., has announced the acquisition of 19 all-in-one touchscreen computers for children from AWE. The new AWE computers, which include 11 Early Literacy Station™ and 8 AfterSchool Edge™ units, are currently being setup throughout the library system's branches. The deployment of the devices will be completed Tuesday, August 19.
The Early Literacy Station is a complete computer system designed for children approximately 2-8 years old. It contains over 70 educational programs that offer hundreds of activities. The AfterSchool Edge is similar to the Early Literacy Station but features content for ages approximately 6-12. These all-in-one touchscreen computers do not need to be connected to the Internet to operate. They both feature a kid-friendly interface and intuitive content menu for easy navigation.
The content on both computer systems spans every curriculum area (reading, language arts, math, science, STEM, social studies, writing, graphic arts, typing, music, and more) and aligns with Common Core standards. They also feature a host of administrative controls including timed sessions and use tracking.
“We are excited to be adding AWE’s computers to our library branches. After evaluating AWE’s solutions, we decided they would be a great benefit for the children in our communities so we are adding numerous units to serve our entire system,” said Library Director Jeanette Hammons.
“The Early Literacy Stations will be designated for the younger children and the AfterSchool Edge systems will be positioned for our elementary school students to use for school reinforcement,” Hammons explained.
The Early Literacy Station, AWE’s flagship product, is found in more than 40% of the public library systems across the United States. The Early Literacy Station is available in English, Bilingual Spanish, and Bilingual French.
