eLogic Learning Improves Efficiency of Managing State-by-State Continuing Education Requirements with Latest LMS Release
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 23, 2015 -- eLogic Learning is excited to introduce complex continuing education management functionality in the latest release of its eSSential Learning Management System (LMS). This latest enhancement of eLogic’s LMS functionality will help organizations manage, track and report on continuing education activity across different states and jurisdictions with greater efficiency while assuring compliance with state-by-state regulations.
Continuing education is a requirement to practice a wide range of professions from healthcare to accounting. In 2014, the US Census Bureau reported that 46 million US adults held a professional certificate or license. Organizations in these regulated industries must keep track of all the training their employees complete and report to the appropriate governing or accreditation body to maintain compliance.
In simple scenarios, completion of one course results in a certification that the organization reports to a single accreditation body. Many learning management systems on the market today are equipped to handle simple continuing education scenarios and automate the reporting process.
However, tracking and reporting continuing education credits becomes far more complex when state-by-state variations are taken into account. For example, one course could be worth two credits in Arizona, while in New Jersey the same course is worth four credits. Credits are not the only component of continuing education that can change from state to state. There are also varying deadlines, reporting standards and accreditation bodies that continuing education managers and providers must follow.
Earlier this month, eLogic Learning partnered with John Leh, CEO and Lead Analyst of Talented Learning in a webinar to present industry research and best practices for managing complex continuing education. (The webinar recording can be viewed here.) In a post-webinar interview, Leh stated “Due to the multiple jurisdictions involved, it is rare for an organization to have an automated process or system that can handle reporting continuing education credits.”
Says Leh, “In the past, many organizations had to build custom software to handle the complexities of continuing education. Now, those same organizations are searching for a more efficient, off-the-shelf solution that will require less time and resources to maintain. Others have tried using spreadsheets or combining different parts of multiple solutions from LMSs to survey engines. What organizations that manage or sell continuing education really need is a way to gain control and clarity over the entire process.”
According to Bill Snowdon, Chief Technology Officer, eLogic Learning, the eSSential LMS’s advanced continuing education functionality will greatly improve the process of managing continuing education in these complex scenarios and help to eliminate manual processes. The new features include:
- Ability to define different credit types, learning levels and credit values to a single course based on state-by-state requirements
- Email/text notifications can be automatically sent to learners to make them aware of educational requirements and due dates
- Automated report feeds can be sent directly to accreditation bodies without manual intervention
- Administrators can access in-depth reports for continuing education credits, including course or curriculum version tracking
