(0) Step Zero is check the business website. The business website presents the business in the way it should be presented - show clearly what the business does and where. Show what problems the business solves and the benefits that a client can reasonably expect. Give visitors to the website compelling reasons to contact the business - discount coupons, free consultations, whatever has been successful will likely continue to be successful.

(1) Write an article, as little as 80 words (roughly two very short paragraphs), no more than 300 - 400 words. Write about one product or service, pick one very specific part of the business and share your expertise on that. Start with a profitable niche. Post the article on the business blog or website.

(2) Make a video about the article in step one. Everybody looks for everything on the internet and the most popular internet access is on a smartphone. No one wants to read a lot of text on a smartphone, video trumps text. The video is on the same product or service as the article in step (1) and these two things support each other.

(3) Do a podcast. A typical podcast runs half an hour or sixty minutes. People with long commutes, people that like to workout without music and others enjoy podcasts. Podcasts are readily available online at the Apple store, for example.

(4) Use social media to disseminate (1) (2) and (3) above. Post to LinkedIn, post to Twitter, post to both a personal and a business page on Facebook, post to both a personal and a business page on Google Plus - use as much social media as can be kept up with and participated in. For example, if a communication comes to the business on Facebook, it should be answered within 24 hours or faster.

(5) Rinse, repeat. Write an article about another profitable niche and do the above steps on this new product or service.
