EMC Satcom Technologies and Kymeta Announce Strategic Collaboration to Enhance VSAT Technology
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) March 09, 2014 -- EMC Satcom Technologies, a division of Emerging Markets Communications, announced today an agreement with Kymeta Corporation to advance the speed, reliability and efficiency of satellite communications for mobile, fixed and selected aerospace markets with low-profile, flat panel terminal solutions. Under this agreement EMC and Kymeta will collaborate on new technologies and standards for terminal mobility (both COTM and COTP) and fixed satellite communications markets where terminal size, shape and appearance matter. The joint efforts will leverage expertise, innovation and technology from both companies in R&D, manufacturing, marketing, sales and support for the new solutions.
At the heart of these new solutions are Kymeta's flat panel antennas, with no moving parts, and EMC's high-performance SatLink® VSAT and Hub products for Internet Protocol (IP) networks over High-Throughput Satellites with integrated TDM/TDMA and MCPC/SCPC capabilities. Leveraging the combination of these innovative technologies, customers can expect a higher quality, more efficient service.

The solutions will provide customers with advanced IP routing and IP QoS optimized for each type of traffic and Committed Information Rates, with modems fully compliant with the industry's DVB-S2 and DVB-RCS2 standards. Using EMC's SatLink and other patented EMC products, the network solutions will offer spectrum efficiencies higher than traditional proprietary technology, with higher gains in total network system efficiency. SatLink, a product set in EMC’s global satellite service offering, is a widely adopted technology used in many verticals worldwide.
Kymeta, the company known for commercializing innovative metamaterials-based antennas for satellite communications, has proven that its mTenna technology works for Internet protocols over satellite through the successful tests performed in December 2013.
