EMCO Releases a New Version of its Power Management Software for Windows
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 31, 2014 -- EMCO Software, a leading provider of PC power management software solutions for Windows networks, has announced the availability of a new version of EMCO Remote Shutdown. This application is designed to work in Windows networks and allow network administrators to turn remote PCs on and off, and perform other remote operations. The application can be used to organize automatic power management of remote PCs across a local network and cut electric power bills.
EMCO Remote Shutdown is a Windows application that can be installed on a server or on an administrator's desktop. It works as a Windows service running in the background to execute the scheduled operations. Network administrators can configure network operations through the client module with a visual interface. Administrators don't need to install any client modules on remote PCs to be managed, so remote operations can be executed immediately after installing EMCO Remote Shutdown on a server with no client configuration required.
The application allows network administrators to wake up, shut down and reboot remote PCs, as well as display messages on remote PCs, lock and unlock input devices. Those operations can be executed for specified remote PCs on demand or scheduled for automatic execution. It is possible to configure recurrent remote tasks, which will be executed automatically on defined days, for example, every day at 6 pm.
"The scheduling features available in EMCO Remote Shutdown allow network administrators to organize automatic power management of remote PCs across entire networks. For example, network administrators can schedule an automatic wake-up of remote PCs on workdays in the morning and shut-down in the evening to save electric power at night and on weekends. Using the automatic turn-on and -off policies can help save up to 35% of power bills if PCs are turned off during non-working hours," Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software, says.
The new version of EMCO Remote Shutdown introduces advanced scheduling features. Network administrators can create recurrent scheduled tasks, which are executed according to a defined pattern. Now it is possible to modify the created schedule and skip the selected scheduled occurrences, if required. This feature may be helpful to create recurrent schedules and skip executions on public holidays, for example.
