EMNS, Inc. Reports Major Chemical Company Goes Live With GSQA
Downers Grove, IL (PRWEB) September 14, 2015 -- EMNS, Inc. announces that the first plant of the European Agricultural Chemicals division of a major global chemical company is validating supplier Certificates of Analysis online before shipment of purchased materials. This functionality is critical to the goal of insuring inbound ingredients are in specification and ready for production upon receipt.
When farmers apply fertilizers and insecticides to their fields, they have to be sure that they’ll get the desired results, without adding potential contaminants to the food chain. That’s why they rely on trusted chemical companies to provide products they can use with confidence.
How can those companies be sure that the ingredients which they source from plants around the world will consistently meet their standards to produce these world-class products? One way is to require that a Certificate of Analysis (COA) be included with every batch or lot that their suppliers send. The COA shows that the supplier has performed the tests required on the ingredient before shipping, and that those test results match the buyer’s current material specifications for safety and performance.
The Challenge
Unfortunately, when the COA arrives as a piece of paper, or a document attached to an email, it still requires that someone review the contents and make sure everything was correct. This takes time and may not be completed quickly enough to meet production deadlines. If internal testing is needed to confirm the accuracy of the COA, even more time is needed. So the temptation to cut corners can be hard to resist and can lead to expensive product problems.
A major chemical company has experienced costly problems with this process. So in 2014 their senior management dictated that by the end of 2015 100% of all COAs would be verified before the ingredient went into production. It was left to a quality manager (and Six Sigma Black Belt) to figure out how to make this happen without disrupting the company’s internal SAP environment.
The Solution
He began searching for COA solutions and quickly found Global Supplier Quality Assurance (GSQA) from EMNS, Inc. GSQA’s 15+ years of success in the chemical industry, and support for industry standards like Elemica made it attractive, but it was the ease-of-use and real-time test data validation that made it the right choice.
GSQA will enable this company to meet its strategic goals and provide a platform for enhanced supply chain quality and traceability in the future!
