EnergyPrint Competes in EPA’s 2015 ENERGY STAR® National Building Competition: Team Challenge
St. Paul, Minn. (PRWEB) August 06, 2015 -- EnergyPrint, a national provider of utility data management and measurement services, is competing in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA's) 2015 ENERGY STAR National Building Competition: Team Challenge. In the spirit of popular weight-loss competitions, EnergyPrint has teamed up with their network of energy solution providers and customers to form a team of nearly 40 buildings. The “Powered by EnergyPrint” team will compete with other participants across the country to work off waste through improvements in energy efficiency, with help from EPA’s ENERGY STAR program.
"EnergyPrint is honored to be a part of EPA’s ENERGY STAR National Building Competition,” said Matt Arneson, Client Services Director at EnergyPrint. “This year, we’re taking our energy management services up a notch to compete in this national competition, and we look forward to helping our customers reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, while watching their cost savings rise.”
This is the sixth year that EPA is hosting this highly successful initiative. More than 125 teams and over 6,500 individual buildings will compete to see who can save the most energy and water in one year.
“Thousands of buildings from across the nation have thrown their hats in the ring and made a public commitment to reducing their energy and water use.” said Jean Lupinacci, Director of EPA’s ENERGY STAR Commercial Buildings Program. “Organizations like EnergyPrint are truly being leaders by putting themselves in the spotlight as they compete to protect the environment and save as much energy as possible.”
Competitors will measure and track their monthly energy consumption using EPA's ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager® tool; make improvements to their buildings’ energy performance; and share their progress. The individual and team competitors that demonstrate the greatest percentage-based reduction in energy or water use intensity will be recognized as the competition winners in May 2016.
EnergyPrint’s team goal is to achieve a reduction in energy use by 20 percent or more. EnergyPrint is helping customers by monitoring the team’s buildings energy use via their utility dashboard services throughout the competition. In addition to participating in this year’s Team Challenge, EnergyPrint is also an ENERGY STAR partner, an Automated Benchmarking Service Provider, part of ENERGY STAR’s Certification Nation, and most recently ENERGY STAR 2015 Partner of the Year.
According to EPA, energy use in commercial buildings accounts for nearly 20 percent of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions and energy use at a cost of more than $190 billion per year. On average, 30 percent of the energy used in commercial buildings is wasted. Thousands of businesses and organizations work with EPA’s ENERGY STAR program and are saving billions of dollars and preventing millions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions from entering our atmosphere each year.
