Enstitute Unveils Expansion of Apprentice Program to St. Louis
New York (PRWEB) March 25, 2014 -- Enstitute, the nationally recognized apprenticeship program for 21st century careers, today announced the launch of its third hub in St. Louis, aiming to place 100 students with St. Louis companies in its first year of programming.
Scheduled to begin this September, Enstitute’s St. Louis expansion comes after the completion of a successful pilot program in New York City from which 90 percent of participants either received full-time offers or started their own companies.
“We’re excited to make St. Louis our new home,” said Enstitute co-Founder Kane Sarhan, whose local board of directors includes Build-A-Bear founder and St. Louis native Maxine Clark.
“Since our first trip here in late 2013, we have been absolutely blown away with the community, innovation and opportunities here is St. Louis," added Enstitute co-founder Shaila Ittycheria. "We’re thrilled to help grow this vibrant tech ecosystem and bring in talent to support the outstanding companies that call the St. Louis region home.”
As part of the organization’s St. Louis launch, and in an effort to bring connectivity between the New York and St. Louis startup and entrepreneurial ecosystems, Enstitute and the St. Louis Regional Chamber are bringing a dozen venture capital firms to St. Louis on March 26 to meet early-stage startup companies and participate in Invest Midwest.
“Much like when the Cambridge Innovation Center chose St. Louis, when leading national organization like Enstitute expand here, it speaks volumes about where we are as an entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Jay De Long of the St. Louis Regional Chamber. “We’re thrilled and proud to have Enstitute join our thriving startup community.”
Enstitute, which expects to place 500 apprentices in 2014, will offer apprenticeships in technology, digital media, advertising, and the non-profit sectors across all hubs in 2014; and will offer opportunities in bio and life sciences in St. Louis.
Enstitute’s growth and expansion is supported by leading donors and entrepreneurs, Jim Pallotta, The Reginald F. Lewis Foundation, The Kauffman Foundation, The deLaski Family Foundation, and others.
